Do you have a sacred space in your home? A place where you can go and unwind? A place to forget about the mundane activities of the day? A place to start your day right? If not you are certainly missing out. Sacred spaces are life and they give you life literally.
Sacred spaces are a location in your home you carve out just for you. Look at it as a divine space to celebrate yourself.
Why it’s Needed/ Benefits?
When was the last time you celebrated you love? I will give you a second to think about it, but it honestly shouldn’t even take that long to get an answer. You should always be celebrating yourself. If you are not, having a sacred space allows for this. There are many activities that people do in their sacred spaces. For instance, I choose to meditate, write my affirmations, whine my hips to soca music and color in my adult coloring book in my sacred space. You decide what it is that you like to do if you were given alone time to yourself and you do it. You can even incorporate a morning routine where you wake up and hour earlier than normal, duck away into your sacred space and do what celebrates you. Some other activities you can do in your sacred space include praying before you get your day started, writing in a journal, lighting an incense and imaging how your day is going to go, yoga and reading a good book. Doing these activities with yourself in mind can lower your stress levels, increase your levels of happiness, gratitude and fulfillment.
Choosing a Space
Once you have decided that you would like to have your own sacred space it is time to decide where you would like it. It can be anywhere in your home but you want to keep in mind these things: you want it in an area that will be quiet when you decide to celebrate yourself, you want it in an area that has less family traffic walking through and you want it in an area that speaks to you. This last one is important. You want to be able to visualize how it will look when it’s done, so having it in an area that speaks to you make this easier.
How to Set One Up
Now you have chosen a space and it’s time to decorate. Some items that you can place in your space would be: a nice mat for you to lay out on, pillows to help you relax more, crystals to give you a specific energy needed if meditating, incense or an oil burner for a nice aroma, a little table to keep your books and other items you may have and some inspirational quotes for you to look at while in your space. Once you have the items you need, decorate to your liking and go with what feels good to you.

Explaining Your Space to Family Members & Friends
If you have family members and friends in your household that will be passing by your sacred space, you can let them know that that space is a space to celebrate yourself and that you would like for them to look but to not touch as you want everything to remain as it is in your space.
I hope this has helped give you some motivation to create your own sacred space. Comment below and let me know a must have item in your sacred space? I would love to hear.
